Eat, Drink, & be Merry

Happy Friday Eve!!!
My days are flying by but I find it hard to believe that it is only Thursday!
So the kitchen in our new house is pretty big -- if nothing else, there is a lot of wall space above the cabinets.  We have been brainstorming to see if we could come up with anything to put up there. I had the light-bulb-on-moment! I would make a big sign that reads "Eat, Drink, & be Merry"!!! And we can put them over the cabinets on the big empty wall space! BRILLIANT!
The requirement: it had to be BIG!
So as we were packing up our things last weekend, I noticed that the shelves in the closets were actually 2 big pieces of wood.
(Pretend I'm showing you two)
I went to Home Depot and looked at the spray paint.  I found a warm, pretty brown that I thought would be perfect in the kitchen. I went home and spray painted the boards with the brown.
While this was drying I went inside and hopped on the cricut.  I knew I could cut out the letters on scrapbook paper and use the 'scrap' part as the stencil.
This took a little trial and error to figure out the font style and the size I wanted/needed it to be.
I cut out the letters -- YAY cricut!!!
I laid the cut out pieces on the boards to see how I wanted it to look
SIDE NOTE/TIP:  put aluminum foil in the bottom of your paint pan so that you can just throw the aluminum away at the end of the project instead of dealing with the mess of cleaning it AND you don't have to buy another for the next project =)
While I was at the Depot - I checked out the clearance paints -- I found a pretty sage sample color marked down to $0.50!!!! You read that correctly =)
I put down the stencils where the letters were and, using the small roller, I stenciled the wood.
All finished!
I took a damp paper towel and rubbed a smidge of paint on it to give the project more of a 'distressed' TYPE of look, I didn't want the signs to look perfect, so it is great that the paint smudged a little under the paper where I went heavy with the paint/roller.
The total cost of this project was $4.50! =) WOOO!!! Crafting on a budget over here =)

Have you done any projects lately??

WILW - Makeup Edition

MAKE UP EDITION!!

I am always always curious to know what kind of makeup all you beautiful ladies out there are wearing.
I'm the girl that normally doesn't go back to the same brands/makeup...that was until recently. Something has changed in me and now I am finding that my skin is a lot more sensitive to a lot more things than it has ever been. So this girl has some makeup that she will likely be sticking with (at least for face products) ... and until it is discontinued.

Face Wash: Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser

Lotion: Aveeno Smart Essentials
Concealer: Benefit Boi-ing Concealer

Liquid Foundation: Makeup For Ever Mat Velvet
Mat Velvet +

Powder: Sephora Mineral Foundation Powder
Mineral Foundation Compact
I know that sounds like a lot of face makeup but I have learned to layer the makeup without making it look heavy. AND the MUFE liquid foundation is fairly sheer and lightweight so it doesn't look like I am caking it on

Eye Shadow Primer: Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Shadow Insurance

Eye Shadow:
I'm really not picky when it comes to what kind of eye shadow, but I do generally stick with neautral colors: browns/taupe -- pretty safe for me =)

Eye Liner: Pop Beauty Cat Eyes in Black Dahlia
POP Beauty Cat Eyes, Black Dahlia
 Mascara: Mabelline's Lash Stiletto

Lips: (right now) Bath and Body Works Plum Mint Mentha Lip
Plum Mint Mentha Lip Tint - C.O. Bigelow - Bath & Body Works
And that's my look! =)

What are some of your favorite products??

Knife Block Re-Vamp

Hello Hello!!!
We are moments away from getting a closing date! YAY us! AND they want to close in a matter of 2-3 weeks. SO big things will be happening here!

This weekend I worked on several DIY projects, one of which was re-vamping our knife block.  It wasn't ugly - it was just.....well, boring!  SO The Husband and I .... well actually he picked the color.  We bought some spray paint that would match the color scheme we will have going in the main area of the house.
BEFORE:

AFTER:

We bought the Krylon Fusion Spray paint -- it has the primer already mixed into the paint.  I coated the block with 2 coats of color.
While it was drying, I cut out the flourished 'W' with my cricut.  I cut out 2 because we don't know exactly where we will be placing the knife block. (2 - one for each side)

I used my little roller and a $0.50 messed up custom color sample paint (you can find this in the 'clearance' section at your Lowe's or Home Depot for SUPER cheap!!!)
no the color is NOT gray - it is a sage green color...
After the monograms dried, I pulled out my Mod Podge and stuck it to each side of the block.
And VIOLA!
All done! Easy-peasy! And it gives the block a whole new, SASSY look =)

My Cup Runneth Over

I believe I am allergic to life - my eyes get all red and watery at nearly the drop of a hat.

I've decided I am allergic to the following (but not limited to):
proposals
weddings
sweet parent/child commercials
loving commercials
happy movies
sad movies
Heck I am even allergic to someone getting hurt.

Seriously - I was watching the FSU game this weekend with the Husband and got choked up. SERIOUSLY?! during football?! I don't even care about Oklahoma OR FSU. For those of you who didn't see, an FSU receiver was knocked unconscious at the goal line during the first half of the game. I seriously got choked up watching the medical staff place him on a stretcher and take him out of the stadium. For those of you who care, he did come back to the stadium on his own, out of uniform to watch the rest of the game.

I can't figure out when I became allergic to so many things. I think it all started right after J proposed to me. Before, I was emotional when the time was appropriate but now I feel like it is ALL. THE. TIME. I was watching an old Friends episode a couple weeks ago and BURST into tears. LITERALLY. No I am not pregnant...that is usually the first thing I am asked at work by the women I work with.

I'm not really sure what has happened in the last two and a half years - but I am way more prone to crying than I ever have been. I cry when I am happy, mad, sad, frustrated, excited...it really is bordering on ridiculous! I don't know how to make it stop!! I mean, I have always been one to feel better after a good cry, but I feel like I am getting all teary eyed about nothing. Gosh - at least before, there was purpose to my emotions. Now I feel like I am on the crazy train and someone else is driving haha!

In other news - some things are being restructured at work which is why I haven't been able to comment on all your lovely little blogs. Between work changes and us prepping to move and all the DIY stuff we are getting into, it is seemingly never ending. We are excited to start packing up some of the stuff this weekend and getting a handful of projects finished.
You should see my list of DIY projects and list of things to buy. It is getting out of hand. I am slowly coming to the sad realization that I won't be able to do all of the things I want by the time we move in, but at least now I have some organization going on with all of it. I can't wait to share everything with you =)

Have you found that you are more emotional since you got engaged/married?
How do you deal with it?! =)

Hello Monday!

Hello Again!
I can't believe the weekend is ALREADY over!
I miss my blog =/ here's the thing though - I can't just write about nothing =/ i don't particularly care to ramble on and on about just whatever comes to mind.
Since we are saving as much as we can and only making purchases for the new house until we close, we aren't living very exciting....OK we aren't living very blog-worthy lives! haha! I know that is silly but we spend a LOT of time in our bedroom.  That is THE only room that stays cool since our A/C went out over a month ago. I can honestly say I don't know how we have managed for the past month.  Unfortunately, because our room is so small, the only place to hang out is on the bed. That seems great but I'm to the point now where the bed isn't comfortable to me any more and NOW I am having a hard time sleeping =(
Thankfully there appears to be an end to the madness...we are anxiously awaiting our closing date that we should be receiving in about 2 weeks with the approval letter. Our realtor said that the closing date will be within 30 days of the letter. SO we are looking at around the end of October at the latest...fingers crossed lol! For those of you wondering WHY we have waited so long, it is because we are buying a short sale property.  In the reality of it all - we are actually very fortunate to be moving along in the process so quickly.  I know, 3-4 months to close on a house does NOT seem fast but it IS for a short sale.

The Husband and I did walk around Ikea for a couple hours on Saturday. That was fun - if nothing else we came up with some new ideas for the house. We designed a couple of the rooms and additional furniture pieces.  We had a really great time together but once we got in the truck, we started seeing dollar signs. We have a plan to be able to get a lot of the stuff we want before or once we move in. Hopefully everything stays right on track.

While we were out and about we tried a new restaurant.  It is on the other side of town from where we live, so we won't be frequenting the place but it was amazing. I know I will want to go next time we are on that side of town. It is a Mexican restaurant.
The service was wonderful, the food was phenomenal. I was so so happy =) I could also eat Mexican food everyday =)
We are planning a trip BACK to Old Time Pottery sometime after we move into the house SOOOO I may have to convince the Mr. to take me back there =) I have been thinking up all sorts of reasons to try and make it over to that restaurant haha! it was so yummy!!

I think that is really the only things going on right now for us. I hope to have a project posted tomorrow. We have lots that we have been working on and still lots more to come! I can't wait =)

Happy Monday!

We Went To the House!

HI!!!!!!!
This weekend was The Husband's birthday weekend so we partied a lot! He has been working so hard over the past several months so we felt he could let loose a little for the weekend.
On Saturday we FINALLY went to the house to get some measurements and take pictures of the inside. HE says the pictures are for us, but let's be real -- I took them to share with you =)

The living room is HUGE and has a giant plant shelf...I haven't figured out how to decorate the shelf. The Husband suggested just dry-walling it and make it just one big wall but then I have a ginormous wall to decorate lol! Any suggestions?
SO the three extra bedrooms all have this plant shelf above the closet. I am not really a fake plant kind of girl -- any suggestions on decorating??

AND we have a massive backyard for the pup to run around in =) I'm so happy!

So these are all the 'before' pictures. it is going to be a little while before you see any after pictures but I will do my best to show you some progress. =)
This weekend we are heading out to Home Goods to check out their decor -- we need pretty stuff on the cheap lol. We will be installing new floors throughout and then painting EVERY wall. if you look really close at the pictures - you can see it looks like they STARTED to repaint but didn't go any higher than they could reach without a ladder. It is very strange but it doesn't matter since we want a completely different color anyhow! We are also debating on 5" baseboards...the 3" are nice BUT they are small on those giant walls. We haven't figured out whether or not we will go that route or maybe do a 'faux' baseboard. We'll see how tired we are when we get to that point lol!
This weekend we are also going to be getting into some DIY projects, so I will be sharing those with you really soon =)
I hope you are having a great week so far!

I Saw Red

"I saw Re-ed. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!"

We interrupt the regularly scheduled program to bring you good tidings of great joy....
OK OK, just kidding BUT I am not sharing a project today. I am showing you my new (to me) car!!!

I LOVE it!!!! I can't believe how quickly I was able to get into a new car. My accident was 2 weeks ago, yesterday. The insurance company had the money deposited into my bank account by last Friday and I bought this little beauty yesterday! =) I am in love!!!

I hope everyone enjoys their Friday-Eve!!
