A Day of Mixed Emotions

Hey Hey!
Can you believe the weekend is already over? I am having a hard time with it!
We are closing on the house this week...I can't believe it is finally here. We had big plans to get so much accomplished this weekend. I am sad to report that none of it got done. We had a couple extenuating circumstances that kept us tending to other tasks on Saturday and we knew that Sunday would be busy. I guess I am just going to have to figure out how to be productive on the week nights.

I am feeling a huge range of emotions today:
--I'm tired because I didn't sleep well--
--I am SO excited to be closing on the house this week--
--I'm disappointed that we didn't get things done at the house--
--I am happy we were able to spend time with friends and both families this weekend--

I think the biggest disappointment of everything is that I am not going to be able to run the half marathon I was hoping to get into this year.  The race is December 3rd. I would normally have enough time between now and then EXCEPT we are closing...in case you didn't read lol! After closing, we are going to be painting every wall in the entire house and then doing all the flooring. THEN we will have to move and decorate. That is going to take a lot of time and work and I just won't have time to do my cross training during the week AND work on getting the house together. I am aiming for the Rock 'n' Roll half that is scheduled in February. In the meantime, I will run when I can during the month of November and probably run the Thanksgiving Day 5K.

I am so very excited about the house and all that entails. I know it is going to be SO much work but I am positive it is going to be worth every drop of sweat. =) There are so many aspects that I am thrilled about and I can't wait to share them all with you. I will definitely be showing you what we have currently and the 'upgrade'. I am thankful for the situation we have been in and for the house we have been living. It is a really cute first house but it is time we move on and move out. Like I said, there are lot of aspects that will be coming to us in 'upgrade' form and I can't wait to show you all the progression pictures as we tackle this project =)

Do you find you're disappointed even when whatever has caused the delay/detour is ALSO a good thing?

  1. CONGRATS on closing!!! I know how you feel about the disappointment of not being able to run. I had hoped to do so many 5k's this fall, but money is tight and my running routine has been so sporatic! Will you be doing the Turkey Trot?????? I will be :)

i know this isn't going to help you much, but dont worry ... you will get many chances to do some races, etc. this is just such a big moment and as long as you have been dreaming about this moment it is only right that you dedicate the time, effort and sweat into it. it will all be worth it.

and then Feb. you can be the running queen again :)
