Running Shoes

I need new ones....in a bad way.  I ran 4.5 miles this weekend and COULD have gone farther except my feet hurt really bad.  I have had these shoes for probably a year so they are well over-due to be replaced. 

I have been running in Nikes...they are usually on sale and comfy.

I recently tried a pair of New Balance and they hurt my feet REALLY badly.  The shoes tore my feet up: blisters and everything after a 3 mile run. BUMMER!

I am looking at buying new running shoes on Friday but I'm kinda looking for some help.  So do you have suggestions?  What is your preference and why??
