Ruger Day 2.0

Happy Friday!!! Since I don't post on the weekends, I thought I would celebrate Ruger Day just one day early.  Ruger Day is August 10th.  We rescued our sweet little pup on August 10, 2008.  Since then we have a little mini celebration and give the pup an extra something - toy, treat - just an extra little something.  I know he doesn't really know what is going on but I like celebrating =)

You can read all about our rescue here I will definitely have to share what we do and/or treat him with next week =) I'm hoping we take him on the lake for a few hours - that is definitely his favorite!

Awwww - his little muzzle is getting so white/gray!! I could have sworn he had ALWAYS had that but after looking through tons of pictures, I see that isn't the case. He's such a sweetie =)

Did you rescue your pet?
Do you celebrate the day you brought your pet home?

Happy weekend, Everyone!

Puppy Love & Excellent Customer Service

The other night, I took out our DSLR.  I am so tired of looking at phone pictures. I KNOW that they are a lot better than they use to be but I love pictures from an actual camera.  The Husband wanted nothing to do with having his picture taken, so I played with the pup.
 photo IMG_9926_zps9d105d0e.jpg
At first he was being all GQ and pensive.... but I got him excited about pictures by playing with his squeaky crown.

Almost a year ago (to the day!) I told you about my new favorite kitchen thing.
We used that thing several times a week.  I went to use it one day and it slipped out of the cupboard where it was balancing precariously - I blame The Husband but he said he would have never put it away like that.  Anyhow - this was the result.
 photo IMG_9957_zps723556e8.jpg
It happened AT LEAST a month ago - probably longer. I was really sad.  I just kept it on the counter pushed together as if the magic dish fairies would come and make it all better.  Finally I decided to contact our rep from whom I bought it.  She said that this stoneware has a THREE YEAR WARRANTY!! All I had to do was send a PIECE back and they would send me a brand new one.

About ten days ago, I sent the piece to the address my rep gave me and waved good-bye, thinking there was no possible way they would send me another, at zero cost, in any decent amount of time.  That was a Friday.  On THURSDAY of the next week I came home to this:

This is brand spankin' new people!!! I was really really stunned.  The turnaround was SO fast and I didn't pay anything except shipping for a tiny piece of ceramic.   If nothing else, I fully expected some sort of inquiry because let's be honest, the thing didn't break because of a defect, I literally dropped it (albeit not far) on our kitchen floors which are tile.  OF COURSE it was going to probably chip, if not break.

I just love when a company backs it's product.  I'm sure if it happens again, there will probably be more of an inquiry.  BUT my fingers are crossed that it doesn't, I was very sad the day it broke!  I will say that I am thrilled that there are still companies who care about their customer satisfaction for real and not just on paper!

Have you had an excellent customer service experience?
Do you share it as often as possible?

It is Ruger's Birthday!!!

Today our little furball is FOUR!!!!
When we got him in August 2008, he was 8 weeks old and weighed 4 lbs

Yes - I too wonder how his giant tongue fits in his head!!! =)

Now our little man is pushing 65 lbs!
He is healthy and strong and happy and most of all
he is absolutely adored by us and our families

I'm definitely spoiling him - already bought him a new bone, some tennis balls, and I broke down and got him a squeaky toy! The Husband is going to LOVE that haha! OH WELL!! It will make our pup happy =) I also have aspirations of making some homemade puppy treats...the weekend is SUPER full though so we will see how it all plays out!

Party it up Buddy!!

Happy Friday y'all!!!

The Dreaded Vet Visit

Our dog is tough. He runs blindly into the brush. He doesn't hesitate to jump into a body of water. He barks at anyone who comes to the door. He protects. He is alert.
That is until Mommy has to take him to the vet.... I don't know what it is but he is SUCH a ninny when I take him! The vet keeps telling me that when The Husband takes ruger to the vet that a completely different dog comes in the door. I'm not sure what the deal is but it is pathetic. I laugh about it because it is just so silly. Our 61 LB dog crawls under the chair and curls into a little ball. I have to sit on the ground with the vet tech to get him to come out. He has never had anything major happen and it isn't the same vet where he was fixed so i'm not sure what the deal is here...but I captured some of his pouting and hiding today because I just couldn't resist.

Yes my tough dog that leaps into bodies of water and bails off our boat, is a big baby when Mommy takes him to the doctors. Once the exam part was over, he was completely fine! Oh well - I guess it is my fault for spoiling him and making him into a little love dog =) At least he doesn't mind being on the boat with us =)

I love being able to spend days together as a happy little family out on the lake the way we did yesterday =) As you can see - we had a fun and relaxing two days =) Oh weekend you leave us too quickly!

Does your furchild act different at the vet when you are with him vs your significant other?
How was your weekend?

All Address Changes are Final

Well it is official! After nearly three months, everyone has made the address change. I know I know EVERYONE?! Ok so that definitely makes it sound like a lot of people but in reality it is two people and the pup =)

The Hubs and I made the change a couple weeks ago when we played hookie from work and saw Sherlock Holmes 2 - which I totally recommend that y'all go see it! ESPECIALLY if you really enjoyed the first one! I just huge pink puffy heart Robert Downey Jr. I love this side of his story/career =)

The pup still 'resided' at the old house! That would simply NOT do! So yesterday while taking my lunch break, I popped into PetSmart and had a new one made =) That laser engraving machine is pretty amazing! OK so when I got home, I put the new tag on him and tried to get a good shot of him wearing it.  Yeah - he thought I had a treat and got really really excited...it was very entertaining...

Yeah - he was tired of being my model lol so I sat on the floor with him =)

ALMOST:

and we FINALLY got a good shot of him AND the tag =)

Yay for a new tag! Obviously I can't show you the back - I love you all BUT I don't need to get random creepers calling me or knocking on my door! =) So you get a front view =)

So after almost three months of owning a home, all the address changes have FINALLY been made...That is really impressive considering after nearly two years of wedded bliss I think I still have some stuff that is addressed to my maiden name! WHOOPSIE!!! =)

Happy Halfway Through The Week!!

How long does it take you to make all your address changes?
If you are married, did it take FOREVER to make all the name changes?

DIY: New Collar for Ruger

Happy Monday!! I hope y'all had a wonderful weekend! I know this girl did =) I was busy all weekend! I went shopping for my sister's birthday present, celebrated a friend's birthday, crafted some things,....went to work. That was a bummer but I had to get some stuff finished.
One of the things I crafted this weekend was a new collar for our dog! =) I'm so happy with the way it turned out and it was so much more inexpensive than buying one. OH and I could pick any color I wanted. I thought about adding some ribbon to give it a pattern, but I didn't know if Ruger could pull off a pattern ;)
He looks so handsome in his new collar =)

I'm so happy with the way it turned out =) and it was super easy! I'm hoping to find someone at work or a friend that wants a custom collar for their pooch so I can make another with a quick tutorial =) I don't like posting tutorials without a couple pictures of the step by step actions!

Did you get into anything crafty this weekend?

Birthday -- Puppy Style

Yesterday Ruger turned 3!! I can't believe we have had him for almost 3 years...June 15th is the best estimate for his birthday.  We rescued him when he was eight weeks - so it is close.
August 10, 2008 -- we picked him up at a rescue shelter

Normally I buy him some Frosty Paws.  However, since we have been so busy going out looking at houses and with J being in and out so often for work, I decided to make him some special treats.
I found a dog cake and frosting recipe via google.

{Cake}
1 cup white or whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup honey
1 egg

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C)
Mix together flour and baking soda. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour into a ring mold sprayed with a nonstick spray for 40 minutes.

{Frosting}
Combine the following ingredients and blend thoroughly:
12 ounces nonfat cream cheese (room temperature)
3 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp honey

I know he is well trained because he wouldn't eat the cupcake treat off a plate even though the plate was on the floor and I kept telling him "Good Boy get your treat!" He just barked at it and laid down haha

SOOO We took it off the plate and he flipped it over lol

I gave him a little bit of time to digest before we went running an hour later -- he was a happy pup =)
This is the face I get when he wants to be let out or while he is waiting for me to take him for a run

Happy Birthday Ruger (yesterday)!!

Do you do anything special for your furbaby on their birthday?

$6 DIY Cupcake Stand

Still no word on the house we placed the offer on; but the seller only got the contract on Tuesday morning...fingers and toes are still crossed for this. I keep saying my prayers that this is in The Plan for us. I know there will be other homes, but I want this one. This was the first house we looked at that I could envision our furniture in; that I could imagine myself throwing parties/cooking in. Hopefully it works out for us!

In the meantime, to keep myself occupied, I made a cupcake stand! Well I will be using it for cupcakes, you can use it for whatever you want! =)

{Supplies}
amount of supplies are subject to the size you want
  • 3 candlestick holders ($1 ea at Dollar Tree)
  • 3 plates ($1 ea at Dollar Tree)
  • Spray paint - color of your choice (I had white satin finish at the house: it is an interior/exterior paint)
  • Adhesive -- I used E6000 that I bought for a different project that I haven't completed lol
  • newspaper -- just to keep your area clean

{Instructions}
{1} Lay out the newspaper to cover your working space. Lay out the plates and candlestick holders in preparation for painting.

{2} Spray paint supplies with a couple coats of paint. NOTE: Even though I purchased white plates, I still spray painted them just to make sure the finish/color matched the candlestick holders.
{3} Using the E6000, glue the top of the candlestick holder to the bottom of your plate. Repeat as necessary/until you run out of supplies =)
{4} Using your adhesive again, stack as desired and glue the base of the candlestick holder to the plate below it. VIOLA!
I think I may want to add some ribbon or something but that will be later =)

And of course -- I had to take some pictures of The Pup

Happy Friday Eve Everyone!! I hope you have a wonderful day!
