The Craft Room Reveal

 photo IMG_0227_zps02fa4054-blog_zps51056205.jpg
AHHHH!!!! Can you believe it?! We FINALLY finished the craft room.  It has only been a year and a half coming but hey, sometimes you have to just take your time and wait.  I waited VERY patiently.  I rearranged the room so many times to make it functional and love it.  I finally decided in September to paint the room.  I went with a really bold coral that I wasn’t sure about at first but I am so happy I did.

The Husband did so much work for me in this room.  Everything in the closet area is custom, as well as the shelving in the main room and the desk area.  I decided to create various stations for working and so far it has been amazing.  I haven’t gotten to play in it too much but it stays clean and I actually know what I have and it is ORGANIZED!!!

Over the past two years I have gotten so much use out of the room for crafting but now it will be so much easier! I am so glad The Husband can help see and create my visions! photo IMG_0219_zps0e78ec83-blog_zps68ba55b4.jpg

Wet Paint

Back on my Halloween-happy-two-years-at-our-house post, I mentioned that we had our house repainted.   We knew we wanted to get it painted but were very aware of the cost.  We went shopping and compared prices.   It turns out, a guy living in our neighborhood has his own painting company and was doing work in the neighborhood.  We checked out those houses and decided to go with him.  His work was really good and his price was even better!

Our house the day we made an offer - July 2011
Approximately 29 weeks ago, or April 15, thereabouts, we agreed to have this guy paint our house.  We compared colors to the house down the street because we LOVED the color.  We even met the neighbor because of it haha! We had paint cards and went with the closest we found in the cards.  It was hard for The Husband and I to compromise on a color.  I wanted gray or brown, he didn't want either.  That's when we decided to get in the truck and drive around looking for colors we liked.  That's how we ended up on the doorstep of the people 5 houses down.

The following week, April 22 (I know this based on an IG post from then!) we had them start painting.  It took about 5 days; they painted the entire house, garage door, trim, porch (front and back), and front door.  We went with a black front door.

The very first picture The Husband sent me made me nervous about the color.  We went with a green color and honestly I HATED it the first day.  But I knew it was probably because the trim hadn't been done and the front door was still red. This was the first picture sent to me by The Husband and the first one I posted on IG:

I actually had a very bad feeling in my tummy when I received this picture.  I just KNEW I was going to hate it.  I didn't know what to do so I just didn't tell The Husband.  The front of the house was the first thing they painted.  The next day, he sent a picture from the side of the house.  I was still feeling pretty upset so when I got home I talked with The Husband more.  I told him how I was feeling and that I wasn't sure about the color.  He assured me the negative feeling towards the color was because it looked pretty sloppy still and I needed to wait to see the whole picture.  HE was positive that he loved the new color.

Thankfully the following day all the trim on the front of the house was completed.  I was so relieved I seriously could have cried!! I loved it! I was so pleased with the color.  PLUS any stucco/paint cracks were filled prior to painting so we wouldn't have to worry about leaks or any water getting into the house that wasn't invited!

I really love the color The Husband and I picked together!! I love how much we have turned this house into our home.  It is that much better since we are making all these changes and decisions together, as a team! Many women would disagree, but I love that The Husband has had an opinion and input in every decision and detail in our lives - and seriously, his opinions are anything from color of the house to wedding colors to centerpieces to sheets and comforters.  I love that it is an "us" decision!  Plus it takes the pressure off of me to pick something out.  I am pretty indecisive when it comes to stuff like this!

What upgrades are you hoping to complete at your home?
Do you make most of the decorating decisions?

Be Our Guest

One of my all time favorite Disney movies is Beauty and the Beast.

Yes I know there have been articles written about various issues that Disney didn't address in the movie.  Here's a big answer to all the questions regarding time frame/age/etc...MAGIC.  That is the beauty of Disney!

Disney has an AMAZING restaurant called Be Our Guest.  Words can not describe how badly I want to go to dinner here.  Unfortunately I have to actually GO to the Magic Kingdom.  Most of you are probably in utter shock that I don't necessarily have a desire to go to this place.  My last experience with said Kingdom wasn't exactly magical soooo I may or may not have PTDD - Post-Traumatic Disney Disorder.  I may get over it one day -  But I have to make new memories there to move on.  ANYWHO!!! This restaurant may be the key to getting back

Anyone who loves this movie knows that they rooms look like they are RIGHT out of the movie, down to the minor details. I love it!!! I told The Husband this is what we need to do for our anniversary this year since you have to pay for park passes and then dinner.  Or my birthday...those are his options =)

Halloween - Or The Day We Bought Our House

My how time does fly! I can't believe that TWO YEARS have gone by since we closed on our house.  We have made so many changes to include repainting the outside and finally finally FINALLY finishing the craft room.  We have redone the spare bathroom twice.  Hosted Thanksgiving for the first time.  We have hosted several parties, learned to build furniture and turned the house into our home.  I can't wait to see what the next years and years and years hold for us!

Seasons of Love: 3,153,600 Minutes of It

6 years.  6 years old seems so young.  Then another 6 years go by and you're 12 - WAY older, cooler, more mature.  Then you're 18 and couldn't believe you were leaving home. Here I am 10 years out of high school, college graduate of 6 years (ugh that made me feel old).  6 years as a time reference takes on different meanings during various stages of life.  When I was 18 and college was only a 4 year degree, I couldn't imagine how long it would take to FINALLY be on my own, FINALLY be an adult, FINALLY start my life.  Then you blink and you are 6 years out of college.

I obviously had a life prior to The Husband. I had 22 years of life before him.  Honestly, and some of you may think I'm crazy, I can't remember what it felt like to not know him.  He is such a huge part of my life and existence. He is my best friend. We have done 6 years of stuff together. A lot of the past 3 years (since the wedding) has been detailed on this blog.

Happenings in Our Household

Holy really long time since posting!!! the past 6 weeks have been just crazy.  No for real - so much has changed since the end of August. Literally 3 days after my last post, the attorney's office let me go.  Out of left field - seriously I was absolutely blind-sided.  They said it was because they were so slow and because they wanted someone with more experience.  Let me clarify - I had ZERO experience in civil litigation/law when they hired me and they knew that up front.  So why, you ask, did they keep my for FOUR MONTHS?!  The answer, good people, is still unknown to me and that same question still crosses my mind from time to time.

So I was unemployed for almost 3 weeks. I now work for a global financial company in downtown and to say I love it is SUCH an understatement.  I love the people, the location, the office, the WORK even. I was very upset when I was let go from the attorney's office but I am SO thankful to be out of there.  The weeks leading up to my unemployment were filled with anxiety, stress, and frustration at that office.  I had made the decision that week to start looking for another job because I just felt like it wasn't a good fit.  FOUR days after that decision I was unemployed. OOPS! "Be careful what you wish for" seems appropriate.

ON TOP of the unemployment thing I was working hard to get the house ready and plans set for The Husband's big 3-0 Birthday Shenanigans! So I went head on into those plans so I didn't freak out lol.  The party was a huge success - we had at LEAST 50 people show up...probably more throughout the night.  I will recap that later on but just wanted to kind of set up the happenings in our little slice of Heaven.

Basically we have been non-stop since the week I was let go.  Remember how great I said I was feeling after I left my long time job? Yeah I'm back to that happy feeling again.  I don't feel stressed when I leave work on Fridays and I don't hate myself on my drive to work on Mondays.  Life is good! I can't wait to share more of what's been going on - including a tour of the craft room!!! FINALLY I know! =)

I'll leave you with a picture of the shenanigans from the Husband's party

BTW - this is post 500 =)

The One and Only Time I Will Ever Post About an Award Show

I'm just saying that the VMAs should have just stayed the JT and *NSYNC show because everything after Lady Gaga and before JT was just not good.  Like train wreck - things you can't make yourself unsee - terrible.

Save for this moment:
MTV VMAs: *NSYNC

I adored the 60 second reunion.  Please come back!
and BTW - can we just talk about how incredibly entertaining Timberlake is?! I mean seriously - he has been performing for, what, two decades? I can't wait for Part II of the 20/20 Experience to come out at the end of September.

I LOVED Macklemore's performance of Same Love with Ryan Lewis.  LOVED.

I thought Rihanna's lack of emotion of just about any kind was absurd. if you are going to be so bored, DON'T GO! Seriously, could she have looked ANY less interested.

I didn't make it to the end of the show, I just couldn't. It made me sad to see the fashion disasters, and the ridiculous winning of the lesser talented over the hugely gifted.

I will leave you with this little gem though - remember VMA 2000?  Britney Spears People.  Remember how risque THAT performance was thought to be?  I watched it again and have a MUCH different perspective on that performance after the train wreck between Robin Thicke as Beetlejuice and whatever was going on with little miss Cyrus.

And with that - thankfully Monday work day is coming to a close.

Out In the Sticks

The Husband and I went on a mini vacation this past weekend.  Nothing uber thrilling to most but we were somewhere that our phones BARELY worked and we didn't have an agenda.  Not one thing was set or scheduled.  It was absolutely glorious!

We arrived Friday night and played at the bar...the home owners built a separate bar building on their property.  It was so neat and beautiful! and can we just say RELAXING?!
 photo null_zpse7d675ad.jpg
We stayed in a small, adorable little house.  I didn't snap any photos but it was so quiet out there.  I mean there wasn't any noise save for the a/c unit kicking on.  And when the lights were off, I couldn't see my hand in front of my face!  Now, I'm a city girl - born and raised.  I'm used to the noise of traffic and having street lights.  The Husband on the other hand is a country boy so he was in his element.

We woke up fairly early on Saturday morning and went back to the main house for breakfast.  This woman can COOK some mean meals y'all! I am pretty sure I just ate all weekend. Shortly after breakfast, The Husband took me 4-wheeling.  MY FIRST TIME EVER!!

I told him I was excited that we are still going to have SO many firsts together =)  I am pretty sure he thinks I'm ridiculously mushy and sentimental!!

When we got back to the house, we went shooting.  It was a blast...no pun intended.  Oh and we weren't dressed in our camo JUST to shotgun shoot, we went 4-wheeling that morning and then we were going hunting that afternoon.

I told The Husband I want to go shooting more.  Hopefully we can find a place to do that.  We do have a friend who offered to take us out to his orange groves so maybe we will take him up on that.

That night we all had EVERY intention of going back to the bar and playing games.  Well between the ridiculous summer heat and not getting much sleep the night before combined with the amazing dinner that was cooked, we were all pretty much passed out before 10!

Sunday was a gorgeous sunny day, so we went out in the bay for a few hours and some drinks.

There were a total of 10 of us doing stuff together at almost any given moment.  The Husband and I had such a wonderful time together, hanging out, having some drinks, and telling lies ;)  We are trying to plan another trip up there but the when is a huge factor.  The next three weekends look to be booked pretty solid.  After that, I may need a weekend of downtime!

So now we are back to reality, I'm a little lobster-esq from our little stint on the water yesterday and I am trying really hard not to day dream too much about our wonderful weekend.  Happy Monday everyone!

How was your weekend?
do you love uninterrupted weekends with your significant other?
